Zuku:

Zuku is an independent boy from my first litter.

Zuku
They'll never find me up here !

He was the first to break out of the whelping box and go for a walk by himself in the back yard at 3 ½ weeks  with the older dogs.  I came home from work one day to find three pups sitting in their box and the older dogs running around the yard acting very worried about something.  I eventually found him under the kennel covered in dust and leaves.

Zuku
Isn't this normal?

I am very lucky that Zuku was adopted by a loving basenji family in Queensland.  The Evans family have made him a true member of the house, Thank you!

ZUKU – from the Swahili word “Marzuku” meaning “Blessed”.

We have certainly been blessed by this little guy. He came to live up here at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland in May 2008 as a 3 month old tri basenji pup. Zuku didn't seem phased by the flight or drive to get here, or by our other 2 much older basenjis. Zuku melted our hearts from the time we saw him, and he has a very sweet nature too. He's such a vocal little chap, especially when our teenagers arrive home from school, or around meal time.
As I write, Zuku is stretched out on our 2 seater in the sitting room. This gets the winter sun, we designed this feature into our home with our basenjis in mind. There are also numerous dog beds around the house which he can move between to follow the sun as well as be with us. We live on acreage which gives him plenty of room for the basenji 500, although he also likes to run in the house.

Zuku

Zuku can always be found with someone, he's extremely sociable. We've taken him lure coursing a few times and he was happy to run the first part of the course until he found himself alone!  He did however show what a good-looking boy he is. Compared to our other basenjis he has no real inclination to sprint out an open gate, so we think he is content with us too! Thanks Sooooo much Priscilla for the opportunity to have our darling boy Zuku join our family!!!

Cheers
Felicia

Ziggy:

Ziggy
Ziggy eating his presents

Ziggy was adopted by Simone Smith.  He is living a very happy basenji life in Sydney enjoying regular play dates with his friend Rouge.

He loves licking the leftovers from yoghurt tubs nearly as much as he loves drinking (and ultimately wearing) puppacinos from Cafe Bones in Lilyfield.

Smiling Ziggy
Ziggy close up He has a shoe fetish, and like all good Basenjis he yodels a lot, especially when he's being mischievous. Ziggy was once found trying to jump up on to the BBQ hot plate to steal a sneaky sausage...and learnt the hard way why it's called the hot plate. He now rests his front paws only on the BBQ edge and longingly stares at the snags cooking just a few centimetres away.

Sekani:

I have been lucky enough to yet again find another wonderful home for one of the Kikongo family. Sekanis new mum has provided a loving, nurturing environment, perfect for a basenji puppy to learn all about life!

Sekani and Lawan sharing the bed

Although he is still trying to figure out cat language, his new best mate Lawan the Siamese cat and Sekani are slowly working out a way to take over Roz's life with games, fun and lots of yummy rewards!!!

Thank you Roz for being so patient with Sekani and providing a safe learning environment for such a mischievous little man.
